Phone Dump Friday

Since I have been so busy to write a proper post, I thought I’d bring back my phone dump Friday! Smile

Here is my week through the lens of my Blackberry…

kentuckytrip

Last weekend, we went to visit our friends Lauren & Nick in Lexington, KY and meet their sweet new addition, Emerson!  Alex and I both got lots of baby time! Smile

The rest of this week has been pretty exciting!  On Monday, Alex was supposed to drive back to Montgomery, but because of car trouble, he got stuck here in T-town (darn Winking smile).  One of my dear friends needed me to watch her kids for a bit, so Alex helped me babysit while he worked.  They had a blast playing with little bro’s putting green and basketball goal Winking smile

Yesterday, I got a letter letting me know I’ve been appointed as the graduate student liason on the university’s instructional technology committee.  This means I will get to help review and select technology tools for the university.  I did not apply for it, but it was a wonderful surprise and I am beyond thankful for the opportunity!Smile

Phone Dump Friday x 2!!

I missed last week because my sweetie got to come in on Wednesday, so I didn’t have a chance to post, HOWEVER, now I present you with two weeks worth of pictures Smile

Enjoy!

Friday, March 30th – Alex made cornish game hens (or as he calls them, “shot-put chickens” Winking smile), squash, and a veggie medley for dinner…it was delicious and not too bad for us!

image

Saturday March 31st – Alex found a VW swap meet at the State Farmer’s Market.  Although we didn’t get to stay long, Alex bought a little beetle (with his dream paint job), and some VW Beetle earrings for me to wear to the next car show Winking smile  Thanks, babe!

Saturday, March 30th – 1.) My little plate at the ACS Crawfish Boil and that’s all I had.  2. & 3) Alex’s aftermath, plus one more.  Yep, 6 baskets total!

image

April 4th – Alex came to visit and brought his Italian uncle’s homemade spaghetti sauce and handmade Italian noodles.  Definitely put my spaghetti recipe to shame!

image

April 5th – Loving on my friend’s sweet baby at lunch.  I think the flash scared him, and who knows why we’re both super pale….

image

April 5th – Alex got to love on Baby Hudson too and Baby Hudson LOVED Alex.  I held him most of our lunch and he napped, but by the time Alex got him near the end of lunch, he was a happy camper!  Too cute!

image

image

April 5th – My sweet Alex brought me an Easter basket filled with all kinds of goodies:  Hershey’s kisses, a giant Turtle, chocolate covered peep, cotton candy jelly belly crayon (jelly bellies inside a crayon…so fun!), Cadbury cream egg, and a coconut chocolate bar from World Market….yum!  Note:  MOSTLY everything was purple or green, including the grass…too cute!  I felt really badly because my plan was to make him a basket too, but didn’t have a chance before he came into town Sad smile

imageimage

Easter décor – Subway art, ribbon basket full of mini eggs (that sparkle, of course), and Easter egg table runner, with Easter rabbit cookies Smile  Simple, but all I had time for this year!

image

I whipped out two new cups for my hairstylist from Maegie Sue’s Boutique.  Thanks for the order, Christy!

image

I went to Ulta to get some new spring polish, and couldn’t pass this little set up.  I definitely did not just buy it because it was ballet themed….ok, maybe I did.  Cute though right?

image

image

My new spring polish – Senrorita Rosealita from OPI.  Love it!  It is this pretty goldish, pinkish, coral color.  Unfortunately, I can’t wear the crazy spring colors, so this was the perfect compromise!

image

I’ve been dabbling in a little bit of graphic design, and I spent the day Wednesday working on a baby shower invite for my sweet friend Lauren.  This is just a sneak peek, but I will reveal the whole thing as soon as they arrive at our guests’ doors.

image

Little bro was inducted into an engineering honor society last night.  They only invite the top 1/8th of the junior engineering class, so huge honor!! He also got inducted into the Pre-Med honor society this week too.  So, so proud of him!

That’s about it for now!  See you next week! Smile

Phone Dump Friday

It’s that time again…life through the lens of my Blackberry!

image

Alex arrived early afternoon last Friday and we went to a Tuscaloosa favorite, Hooligan’s for hummus and their famous mint sweet tea.  Yum!

image

My dad is in the process of building a hunting lodge, so when I saw this sign at Hobby Lobby, I had to snatch it up to put in the cabin

image

Alex made one of my favorites:  turkey burgers, with goat cheese, avocados, and his “special spread”.  We paired with spicy sweet potato fries for dinner – yummy!

image

For breakfast last Saturday, we made Skinny Hash Brown egg white nests.  They were delicious…more on the cooking blog later!

image

We stopped by one of our favorite bakeries to check out the big sale they were having in their consignment bakeware shop (which we racked up big in, but I forgot to take a picture of. Sad smile), and the bakery was having a cookie decorating contest.  We chose not to enter the contest but we each got to decorate a free cookie, so that we did.  Surprisingly Alex’s design was far more obnoxious than my own, but only because he wanted lots of icing.

Enjoying our creations in the courtyard Smile

image

We also went into a little old toy shop, and of course, Alex had to play with some of the toys.

image

On Sunday, we grabbed Zoe’s for lunch and took it out to the park.  Beautiful day for a picnic lunch!

image

When Alex lived in Tuscaloosa, we would go to Barnes and Noble every Sunday afternoon just to grab a coffee and look around.  This past Sunday, we shared a tall Java Chip frappucino and some magazine reading (yes, that is a wedding magazine…just because I love looking at all of the pretty weddings Winking smile)

Since I don’t have any kiddos of my own, I enjoy spoiling my psuedo neice and nephews (my friends’ kids), so of course, I couldn’t wait to put together Easter baskets for them.  The top two are for my friend Christina’s two children, and the bottom two are for baby Colton (my friend Crystal’s little boy) and for baby Cooper (my friend Jenn’s little boy) who are both celebrating their first Easter this year!  Alex was a ton of help in helping me pick out things, and I LOVE how they turned out.

image

We found this button at a little shop in downtown Northport and since Alex is obsessed with bugs, I had to get it Smile

image

Yesterday, I headed down to Montgomery and stopped off in Birmingham to visit my friends and drop off Easter baskets.  I also go to love on my friend’s little one.  I didn’t get a picture of me with him, but his Mommy took a picture of him with his Easter basket I gave him.  I love that he is looking up at the basket…So sweet!

image

image

I also FINALLY got my iPad replaced (since I cracked the screen almost a year ago!) It is so crazy having a new one, but I LOVE it!

image

Alex planned a “surprise date” for us last night, so before we left, he made a delicious dinner of tuna steaks, stir fry veggies, and rice pilaf.

image

For Alex’s birthday, we went to an awesome restaurant in Old Cloverdale in Montgomery.  As we were going into the restaurant, we passed this pretty little Art Deco style theatre.  I’m obsessed with old theatres so I had to stop and admire it for a few minutes.  Well, Alex did some research and found out they were showing “The Artist” (which I have been dying to see) at this cute little theater last night only, so he surprised me with tickets.  It was AMAZING!  The movie, the atmosphere, the company – perfection!

Well, that’s it for now!  Enjoy your weekend and I’ll see you next week!
